Fall U6 & U8 Rules DecisionThis spring soccer season we implemented a couple of changes to the U6 (4 and 5-year olds) and U8 (6 and 7-year olds) divisions effecting field size and number of players on the field in an effort to help kids develop their ball handling skills and give them more scoring opportunities.
After much discussion in Board Meetings, research, first-hand experience, observation of the games during spring soccer, and hearing from a variety of views among parents/coaches involved in the spring season, we have come to the following decisions for these age groups for fall 2013 that we believe will be of great benefit to these young, thriving players: U6 Rules:
U8 Rules:
Soon we will add to our FAQ section answers with the reasoning for the changes. Ultimately it is for the greater development of the skills of these young players and for their level of enjoyment by getting more touches on the ball, having more scoring opportunities, and every player being involved in more aspects of the game. U-10 and U-12 Team Selections are CompleteWe selected U-10 and U-12 on Wednesday night. Thanks to all who came and volunteered their time in behalf of the kids of Lassen Youth Soccer!
LYS announce U-12 Travel TeamsHere at Lassen Youth Soccer, we are striving to find the best possible alternatives for your children to advance in soccer. Many other leagues in District IX provide travel opportunities in U-12. We have decided to open this option up concurrently with our Rec Program. This means that a player can be on two teams in one season, one to play at home, and the other to travel. This travel team will be made up of players from the Rec teams, and Travel practices/games will not interfere with Rec practices/games. If you are interested in learning more or signing up your son/daughter for a second team, please contact Keith Crosby (Player Agent) at kcrosby5779@hotmail.com, Caleb Schortz (Registrar) at soccercoach365@yahoo.com, or call the soccer hotline 252-4818
